CASE STUDY
Selected via a competitive RFP, SGodley Architects® worked with BOPA for 6 months to find a suitable space for their new corporate office. Working on test fits, field surveys and property assessments, the team landed on the location on Saint Paul street in downtown Baltimore city.
Commissioned to create a space that mirrors the creative organization’s mission that “inspires and engages audiences,” SGodley Architects® worked with the Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts to provide its members with much-needed space to create, collaborate and engage with the civic and arts communities in helping to make the city a more open and vibrant place to be. We created a concept meant to stimulate the senses with pops of color, dynamic lighting installations and playfully-designed flooring layout. Moving from Entry Lobby to the Open Office, members and visitors alike are surprised with a bright and light space connecting to the exterior wall of windows beyond.
This project is an exercise of transformation from an underutilized, mono-chromatic office interior into a light-filled and sensory playground for professionals that continually define Baltimore as “Charm City” and a place to explore the arts.

BOPA’s existing space was dull, dim and space was improperly allocated, leaving an over-abundance of wasted space. Offices remained unused, dark and bland – wholly unrepresentative of one of the most creative groups in the City.
Upon selected and lease ratification of bright corner space overlooking St. Paul street and down to Baltimore harbor, SGA provided light, bright and creative solutions to the needed space allocations. We worked intensely with BOPA’s senior staff for 6 months to develop and craft the space into what it needed to be for BOPA’s highest and best use.
